Design Phase Services
Planning for accessibility early in the design process is one of the least expensive and most effective ways to create accessible & compliant projects. As ADA Consultants our services range from drawing review to working as a consultant alongside the design team as a project is designed and developed. We understand design and believe that the best barrier-free solutions are the ones that are not noticeable. AAC's goal is to make accessibility a seamless part of the design.
Drawing reviews provide both quality assurance checks for code compliance and analysis for Federal Regulations compliance. If we see non-compliant situations, we can offer solutions that are creative, practical and aesthetically pleasing. AAC works with architecture firms and private developers as well as government agencies.
Design and Construction Phase services include:
- Accessibility consulting during design
- Drawing review during design phase
- Review of construction documents
- Design solutions to prevent barriers
- On-site construction progress reviews
- On-call resource
- Photo documentation of compliance for use during disposition of property
The ADA mandates an on-going obligation for owners to continue to address any accessibility barriers that exists until they are all remediated and be compliant with 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design. This differs from other building codes that allow owners to maintain the building as it was permitted, with no obligation to upgrade it unless there is a change of occupancy.
As ADA Consultants, American Accessibility Consultants can survey existing buildings, assess non-compliant conditions and help clients create a mitigation plan to remove barriers over time. AAC provides this service for a variety of building types.
